What can I do to save my Jack O Lantern?

I read some where to preserve your pumkin you can soak it in ice cold water for 2 hours to prevent dehydration. well, I was out of ice so ran cold water over my pumpkin and put it in the freezer, oh by the way I have alreay hollowed out the pumpkin, now it is wet and soggy i am now trying to blow dry it to see if it will get hard again.......help
