Just found out I have ...help?

Im 19 and absolutely petrified, I just got my blood results back from my STD test and my doc said I have traces of the virus. I have never had an outbreak, and my last ual encounter was over 4 months ago. I asked my Gyno if I should tell the people that I have been with and his answer was no... That didn't sound right to me so I told my last partner. My doc isn't very informative so I have been trying to look things up about it online, and it was saying there are two different kinds: simplex and genital . How do I know which one I have? And is there anyway i could have it but never have an outbreak?. Please help I'm terrified, and am scared that no guy is ever going to want to be with me now. So if u have any good advice or any knowledge on this subject please help, and when do u think would be the right time to tell someone I like about what I have?
