How long does a cello last?

The best violins and cellos in the world are Stradivari, Guarneri, and Amati, and they're all at least a couple of hundreds of years old. But they're also carefully maintained and kept at certain conditions of heat and humidity. They also HAVE to be played or they deteriorate, which is why so many of the great instruments are on loan to great musicians.
