Does having two connections between two Ethernet switches double the bandwidth available?

As Anon has pointed out, you can setup an etherchannel and it will attempt to load balance. Now it won't be a perfect load balance as you have to decide how it balances, usually by source/destination mac/ip address, which obviously won't be perfect, but it will balance some traffic.
